Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the tools, the data, your privacy, and how the site works.

Is it really free?

Yes, every calculator, no signup, no paywall, no ads interrupting the tools. Some comparison pages carry affiliate links, which is how the site is funded, but that never gates a calculator.

Is this financial advice?

No. Everything here is educational and produces estimates based on the inputs and documented assumptions. It isn't financial, tax or legal advice, confirm important decisions with a qualified professional.

How current are the numbers?

Tools use current 2026 rules and rates, dated and verified on each page, with a verification badge on every calculator whose result rests on a statutory figure. Foreign-exchange rates and gold/silver prices update live (from market data) on the currency and zakat tools; other figures are refreshed on a set schedule and each January.

Can I trust the calculations?

Every tool documents its actual formula in a “How this is calculated” section, and the math follows real Canadian rules, semi-annual mortgage compounding, CMHC and the stress test, provincial tax brackets, and TFSA/RRSP/FHSA/RESP rules. If a result looks off, please report it.

Do you store my financial information?

See the privacy policy for exactly how the site handles the numbers you enter — including scenarios you deliberately save (like Net Worth snapshots) and “Copy link” URLs, which carry your inputs in the address so the recipient sees your scenario.

How does the site make money?

Some comparison pages use affiliate referral links, which may earn a commission at no cost to you. Rankings are set by the numbers, never by commissions, see “how this site earns.”

Which provinces and territories do you cover?

All 13. Tax, land-transfer, and benefit tools handle each province and territory, including Quebec-specific rules where they differ.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, every page is responsive and works on phones, tablets and desktops, in both light and dark themes.

Who built this?

Canadian Financial Calculators built it as a free resource for Canadians. More on the approach and data sources is on the methodology page.

How do I suggest a tool or report an error?

Email [email protected], include the tool name and your province if it's relevant. Corrections are prioritised.

Can I share or embed a calculation?

Yes. Every scenario has its own shareable link, use the “Copy link” button on any tool. Embeddable widgets are on the roadmap.
